YSPN accreditation — the mark parents look for

For providers whose quality is invisible at the moment parents choose, YSPN accreditation is the independent, observation-backed standard that makes it visible — and turns it into bookings.

Evidenced by observation.
Never bought.

Quality you can't prove is quality parents can't see

The pain

Every provider claims to be safe and professional

With no independent bar, your genuine standards compete against everyone else's marketing copy.

Why the usual approach falls short

Self-declared badges and paid directories prove only that you paid. Parents are learning the difference.

The pain

Youth sport is the only child-facing sector without inspection

Schools and childcare are inspected and rated. Youth sport isn't — so trust defaults to word of mouth.

Why the usual approach falls short

Waiting for regulation means someone else writes your standard. The providers in the room first shape a bar they already meet.

The pain

A serious incident anywhere damages trust everywhere

Every headline about an unvetted coach or unsafe program costs the whole sector bookings.

Why the usual approach falls short

Individual diligence can't rebuild sector-level trust. Only a visible, shared standard does that.

The accreditation that delivers parent trust

What being YSPN Accredited means for your program

Independently observed, so it means something

Accreditation rests on real observation of your operation and your sessions against the published standard — business operations, staffing, safeguarding, and coaching quality. Preventative, not punitive: observations catch issues and opportunities before they become problems.

Why YSPN's mark is different

The observation record powers everything — accreditation, compliance badges, and awards. Nothing is pay-to-display. Buying services confers no advantage, and we publish that rule. A YSPN mark means an observer saw it.

Accreditation for parent trust, in three steps

Transparency and support at every step

1

Self-assess

Run the self-assessment against the same framework the observers use. See every gap before anyone visits.

2

Close the gaps, your way

Use the member library, any approved training partner, or your own approach. Your findings are yours — never a sales lead.

3

Be observed, earn the mark

An independent observer verifies. Pass, and the mark, directory priority and awards eligibility are yours. Re-observed on a cycle, so the mark stays honest.

The standard behind the mark

Standards domainWhat it covers
Minimum operating — businessLegal entity, insurance, financial basics, complaints, data protection, health & safety, emergency procedures, parent communication
Minimum operating — staffSafe recruitment, background checks and renewal cycles, minimum qualifications by role and age group, ratios, induction, CPD, code of conduct
SafeguardingThe non-negotiable tier. Named lead, reporting and escalation routes, training cycles, photography and communications policy, transport and facilities protocols. Failure here is a suspension, not a finding.
Quality assuranceWhat a quality lesson looks like: planning, progression, differentiation, behavior, age-appropriateness, engagement, assessment
National coaching standardsThe coaching competency framework by level — what a coach must be able to do at each stage, and the CPD that keeps them there

Why we built this

“American youth sport has brilliant people and no bar. Every other sector that touches children — schools, childcare, healthcare — has a standard, an inspection and a mark parents can check. Youth sport has none of the three. YSPN exists to build all three, and to make meeting the standard the best commercial decision a provider ever makes.”

Before you start accreditation

The questions providers ask us most

How much does youth sports accreditation cost?

Accreditation sits inside Accredited membership, priced annually by provider size, plus an observation fee per cycle. Founding-cohort providers receive the founding rate. Request exact pricing via the membership page.

What happens if we don't pass the observation?

You get the findings, in full, and they belong to you. Close the gaps with any approved partner — or on your own — and be re-observed when ready. Only safeguarding failures trigger suspension; everything else is a development plan, not a punishment.

Is this like Ofsted for youth sports?

The observation model takes what works from school inspection — independence, published standards, real observation — and drops what doesn't. It is preventative by design, and providers choose when they're ready.

Can we display the mark anywhere?

Yes — site, kit, venue, marketing — with the usage guidelines in the member library. The mark links to your live directory entry so parents can verify it in one tap.
